Common Questions
How can I be assured that I'm getting a good deal?
When you wish to sell your sentimental item, diamond, or fine watch, we believe Lexington Estate Buyers is
your best option. We have the resources & experience to satisfy your needs.
How soon do I get paid once you have accepted my item?
Upon agreeing on a price, we will overnight payment to you via USPS Express Mail in the form of a check
or cashiers check. For larger deals, we offer a bank wire transfer for the quickest form of payment.
I’m not sure about shipping my jewelry, diamonds, etc. is it safe?
Absolutely. It is very safe and insured. Your items travel registered, insured (you insure them and we
reimburse your costs when we buy your jewelry items) through the US Postal system. The package is
tracked through the entire process until it reaches its destination at Lexington. This is the same
insured method that the jewelry industry uses to transport shipments from one destination to another.
Are my items safe and insured while in your possession?
Yes. All shipments have an individual inventory number to distinguish itself throughout the process. Items
are stored safely in vaults that are fully alarmed and recorded.
What is a certificate?
A certificate is a diamond grading report issued by companies such as:
- GIA (Gemological Institute of America)
- EGL (European Gemological Labatory)
- AGS (American Gem Society)
- IGI (International Gemological Institute)
These labatories grade the diamonds dimensions, color, clarity, cut and diamond’s weight.
Do I get more money if my stone is certified?
Possibly. The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) invented the grading scale for diamonds and remains
the standard for Diamond Grading. Additionally, the American Gemological Society (AGS) adheres to the same
strict standards as outlined by GIA.
Other certificates such as EGL (European Gemological Institute), IGI (International Gemological
Institute), etc., have some value, but we do not value these as much as GIA or AGS.
Independent jewelry store appraisals or grading will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Lexington will buy your diamond even if it is not certified.
Do you buy “knock-off’s” or replica watches?
No. These watches have no resale value.
What watch brands do you not buy?
We are unable to purchase mass-produced watches such as Citizens, Gucci, Seiko, Timex, etc. Most of
the quartz movements fall under this category and have minimal to zero resale value.
Does my watch have to work properly?
No. Lexington will buy your watch even if it isn’t working. In fact, most of the time pre-owned watches
that are not working are valued only slightly less than watches that are working.
Do you need any original papers or boxes, links when I send in my pre-owned watch?
Yes. Anything that came with your watch when you originally purchased it will add value to the sell.
